Love or hate the word (that is a whole other blog post), from now on Mondays on the blog are devoted to all things Mumpreneurial.
Firstly I’d like to introduce you to a book which was my bible when I first started out.
Although written for the US market, The Mom Inventors Handbook: How to Turn Your Great Idea Into the Next Big Thing is still very relevant to the UK (except possibly for the chapter on patents). The author, Tamara Monosoff, invented what sounds like a very useful device for stopping your baby from pulling all of the toilet paper off the roll. She went on to invent lots of other products and also to licence lots of other mum inventor’s products, so she knows what she is talking about.
The book covers everything, from creating a prototype to locating a reliable manufacturer. Tamara even has some very good advice on DIY PR. In fact, I’m not sure why the book is only marketed to Mumpreneurs, because I haven’t found any other inventor handbook which is half as good.
It can be bought from Amazon.co.uk for as little as £3.50 at the time of writing.
