Frequently Asked Questions...

Q How has the Cot Wrap® bumper been safety tested?

A  Our top priority is to provide you with a safe and quality product.  For this reason, the Cot Wrap® bumper has been tested extensively by leading international safety organisation STR and an independent Cambridge laboratory.  The new Cot Wrap® bumper meets British Standard 1877-10:1997 for cot bumpers and all applicable parts of EN-71.

Q How thick is the Cot Wrap® bumper?

A  The Cot Wrap® bumper is made from a specially designed kind of air mesh fabric which is 4mm thick.  The fabric has been designed to have the optimum level of resistance to cushion against bumps while still remaining breathable and flexible enough so it will collapse under a baby's weight to prevent climbing.

Q Is the Cot Wrap® bumper suitable for all cots and cot beds?

A The Cot Wrap® bumper has been designed to fit all UK standard sized cots and cot beds. As it attaches with velcro, it will adjust to accommodate all sizes.  It is available in two versions: the 4-sided Cot Wrap® bumper for Cots/Cot Beds with rails on all four sides and the 2-sided Cot Wrap® bumper for Cots/Cot Beds with solid ends (the Cot Wrap® bumper can be fitted to both the railed sides).  The Cot Wrap® bumper will fit Stokke® Sleepi™ cots (the 4-sided version) and most Boori cots.  The only cot we have found for which the Cot Wrap® bumper is unfortunately unsuitable is the Leandro cot.

Q What are the measurements/dimensions of the Cot Wrap® bumper?

A The 4-sided Cot Wrap® consists of one piece which is 460cm long and 27cm high.  The 2-sided Cot Wrap® consists of two pieces of 150cm long and 27cm high.

Q Is the Cot Wrap® bumper suitable for cribs?

A  The 4-sided Cot Wrap® can be used on a crib provided that there are bars on all four sides - please contact us for installation advice prior to purchase.

Q  Is it possible to use the 4-sided version on a solid ended Cot?

A  Yes, but as the solid ends lack bars to wrap the Cot Wrap® around, the product will have to sit on the outside of the solid ends.  If your main purpose of using the Cot Wrap® is to keep arms, legs and dummies inside the cot, this option may work for you.

Q What is the Cot Wrap® bumper made from?

A The inside surface (which sits next to the baby) is 100% cotton.  The inner and outside surface is 100% polyester to provide cushioning.

Q Can the Cot Wrap® bumper be washed?

A The Cot Wrap® bumper is machine washable at 40 degrees. As it is fast drying, there is no need to tumble dry.  Make sure that the velcro fastenings are in place before washing to avoid snagging.

Q What other measures should I take to ensure my baby is sleeping safely?

A FSID (Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths) and the Department of Health provide the following recommendations:

  • Place your baby on the back to sleep.
  • Cut smoking in pregnancy - fathers too!
  • Do not let anyone smoke in the same room as your baby.
  • Do not let your baby get too hot (or too cold).
  • Keep baby's head uncovered - place your baby with their feet to the foot of the cot.
  • The safest place for your baby to sleep is in a cot in a room with you for the first six months.
  • Do not share a bed with your baby if you have been drinking alcohol, take drugs or if you are a smoker.
  • If your baby is unwell, seek medical advice promptly.
